Working Across Multiple Browsers — What You Need to Know
Recruitment Assist is a Google Chrome extension and only works within the Chrome browser. This article explains how using multiple browsers can affect your activity tracking and what to keep in mind.
✅ The Key Rule
Always use the same Chrome browser where Recruitment Assist is installed when working on job boards.
If you open a job board (Indeed, LinkedIn, Dice, Monster, CareerBuilder) in a different browser — such as Microsoft Edge, Firefox, or Safari — your activity will not be tracked, profiles will not be pushed, and you will not appear on the Daily Activity Report.
🔍 Common Scenarios
—> Scenario 1: Extension installed on Chrome, but browsing on Edge
You have Recruitment Assist installed on Chrome. However, when you open Indeed, you use Microsoft Edge out of habit.
Result: Your Indeed activity is invisible to CrintellTech. You will not appear on the Daily Report for that day, and no profiles will be pushed to your ATS.
Solution: Open Indeed in Chrome instead.
—> Scenario 2: Using Chrome on a laptop but a different browser on a desktop
You have Recruitment Assist installed on your office desktop's Chrome browser. When working from home on your laptop, you use a different browser.
Result: Only activity on the office desktop's Chrome browser is tracked.
Solution: Install Recruitment Assist on Chrome on your laptop as well. You can be logged in on multiple devices.
—> Scenario 3: Multiple Chrome profiles
Some users have multiple Chrome profiles (e.g., personal and work). Recruitment Assist is only active in the Chrome profile where it is installed.
Result: If you switch to a different Chrome profile, the extension is not present and activity is not tracked.
Solution: Always use the Chrome profile where Recruitment Assist is installed.
📋 How to Verify You Are in the Right Browser
Look at your Chrome toolbar (top-right area of the browser).
Find the Recruitment Assist icon.
Click it — your name should appear in the popup.
If you do not see the Recruitment Assist icon or your name does not appear:
You may be in the wrong browser or Chrome profile.
The extension may be disabled — go to
chrome://extensionsand ensure it is turned on.You may need to log in again.

—> Can I use Recruitment Assist on Microsoft Edge?
No. Recruitment Assist is designed exclusively for Google Chrome. While Edge is based on the same technology as Chrome, the extension is only distributed and supported through the Chrome Web Store.
—> I use Chrome on two computers. Do I need to install the extension twice?
Yes. Recruitment Assist needs to be installed and logged in on each device where you want your activity to be tracked. You can be logged in on multiple devices simultaneously.
—> My company's default browser is Edge. Can I still use Chrome for job boards?
Yes. You can install Chrome alongside your default browser and use it specifically for job board sourcing with Recruitment Assist. Your company's default browser can still be used for other work.
—> I switched browsers and now I am marked as "unengaged." How do I fix this?
